Our excavation prompted a lot of interest, and in addition to the Open Day, we had visits from local schools and groups.

Despite the muggy conditions, many people braved the midges to visit our Open Day - including a reporter from BBC radio

The following day we had a visit from a large group of Norwegian students, some of whom braved the cold to go swimming!

Our official visitors included the Shetland Archaeologist, Assistant Archaeologist and the local police (who had a professional interest in the skeleton)

Members of the local Young Archaeologists' Club also visited

School visits included children from Baltasound Junior High School...

...Uyeasound Primary School...

...and children from the neighbouring island of Fetlar

The pupils from Baltasound visited after the skeleton had been lifted, but some of them were interested in seeing it

We set up a Kids Trench for younger visitors to practice their excavation skills
